This site chronicles the build of a timber-framed house on the SE coast of New South Wales, Australia. Built in 7 months, it's a fairly self-contained house, the only service coming in through the gate is the phone line.

Water collected from the roof (no mains connected)
Drainage handled on site (Biolytix system producing grey water for the garden)
Raked roof to provide maximum sun penetration in the winter and maximum shade in the summer
Wood burning heater using deadwood from on-site trees
